Inspiration to write
Writing can be inspired by many things. It can come from a single phrase that is heard or an event that takes place. It can occur from hearing about something that happened to someone else or about someone’s life.
For me, the inspiration to write We Have A New Baby At Our House came to me as I watched my sister’s oldest child struggle with accepting the arrival of his baby brother. I decided that all children have this challenge when another life is added to the family structure. I felt that it would be beneficial to the child undergoing the change if he/she could hear about it in his/her own voice. And so the story was born.
For New Beginnings: Annabelle’s Story, the inspiration appeared when I learned about my grandparent’s struggles as immigrants to the United States. It is not a biographical tale, but rather a true historical fiction, reflecting the challenges that many face when migrating to a new world.
My blog, afteriretireiwill.com, has a very different source of inspiration. The vignettes are often my view on life. Sometimes it may reflect the history behind an event. And sometimes it is just sharing satisfying recipes or life occurrences. Each day I look forward to learning something new and how that acquisition of knowledge may continue to inspire my writing.
